The J-31 Shenyang, also referred to as "Gyrfalcon", is a relatively young, mid-sized 5th generation fighter jet designed by the People's Republic of China. Besides having passed the demonstrator stage, much information about the aircraft remain unknown due to its very young age.

The aircraft features similar performance and general shape as some Western-made 5th-gen fighters, in particular the F-35 and F-22. The J-31 is currently heavily debated upon wether or not stolen F-35 designs were used in its construction. While the J-31 is said to be the PRC's domestic version, a rumored export variant called J-60 is now supposedly under way.
One of the defining features of the J-31 over its F-35 rival is the presence of two potentially 3D-thrust-vectoring capable engines.

Trivia[]
Much ironically, like its real-life counterpart, several details left in the aircraft's data suggests that the developpers used the F-35C as a template for the J-31, however with the notable addition of a machinegun.
