Description[]
The F-117 Nighthawk is a single-seat, twin-engine attack aircraft designed for stealth flight. When it was introduced, the F-117 was unique in being the first aircraft designed around stealth technology. Its faceted design, use of Radar Absorbent Material, internal weapons bays, and narrow engine exhausts, all combine to offer as much of a stealth advantage as possible. However, this design does come at a cost of reduced maneuverability, speed, and payload endurance.
The F-117 family was revealed in Report 036, which also added features such as the stealth system, internal weapons bays, and aircraft which lack Main or SP weapon mounts.
