Description[]
A contender in the development of th A/F-X, the A/FX-12 was a navalised prototype of the A-12 family, with folding wings for easy storage aboard aircraft carriers, arrestor hooks and strengthened landing gear for deck recoveries and catapults. In order to fulfill its stealth attack roles, it includes support for precision guided bombs and other standoff ordinance, nightvision systems and datalink systems. This allows the airframe to conduct highly accurate attacks against enemy control nodes and other vital targets while remaining undetected by enemy air defences.
